Reflexões acerca da internacionalização de empresas multinacionais de Santa Catarina

Neste estudo, procuramos focar na discussão do modelo de multinacionalidade gradual a partir da análise da empresa catarinense WEG, por apresentar evidências sobre diferentes trajetórias e modelos de internacionalização. A multinacionalidade das empresas de economias emergentes parece ser sensível ao contexto global, mas reflete as condições da indústria e das instituições do país de origem. Isso significa que sua evolução reflete diferentes padrões em distintos ciclos. Durante as reformas e os ciclos das commodities, a expansão do IED refletiu tendência geral de expansão das empresas de economias em desenvolvimento; após a crise financeira global de 2008, apontou para um fenômeno de internacionalização acelerada, com a adoção de estratégias up-market (EUA e Europa) em busca de ativos estratégicos e de upgrading de seus modelos de negócio.
